2021 Accomplishments

CARING IS OUR FOUNDATION…TOGETHER SUPPORTING LOCAL HEALTH!

Over the course of the past year, we have seen health and quality of life move to the forefront of our collective thoughts and actions. However, this has always been the focus of the des Collines Health Foundation. Our mission to improve health services and quality of life by providing equipment and infrastructure to our local health institutions continues, despite the many challenges we faced.

Because of your generosity and support, our last Christmas appeal exceeded our expectations, raising a record $60,000 in a few short weeks. This allowed us to not only achieve our goal of providing a television beside every bed at the Wakefield Hospital, but also to go above and beyond that objective. Here are key highlights of what we accomplished together in 2021:

A new intravenous service at all four CLSCs
– Patients needing intravenous treatment can now receive this service at their local CLSC rather than the hospital thanks to new intravenous pumps provided to the CLSC in Cantley, Chelsea, La Pêche and Val-des-Monts.

Enhanced support for Wakefield Memorial Hospital to effectively battle COVID
– Reduction of COVID transmission risks with hand-washing stations, isolation units, and commodes for bedside use. This project, in partnership with the Canadian Medical Association, also supported workshops for staff working under stressful conditions.

Boosting of Emergency Services at Wakefield Memorial Hospital
– Honing skills of our medical staff in life-saving techniques with a new training mannequin.
– Reducing pain of patients during transport with immobilization braces used for fractures.

Much-needed support for our long-term care facilities
– Purchase of a Hydraulic Lift Chair for improved safety when bathing residents.
– Repairs and renovations indoors and out, including dining room, gardens and gazebo.
– Expansion of shaded sitting area and accessible new garden gazebo.

These are just a few examples of how your generous donations were used over the course of the year, so that together we could achieve these common goals. Our local Foundation relies on your kindness and support; a donation to health care is one of the greatest gifts you can give this holiday season. Please support our ongoing efforts to ensure excellent care, treatment and quality of life for all des Collines residents.

We wish you a joyous holiday season and send a warm thank you in advance for your donation.
